For the past twenty years the Foundation is proud to have maintained an efficient model of low cost administration with a small staff. This has allowed Fragile Kids to use the maximum of donations to specifically support children in need.
Carolyn Polakowski, Executive Director
Carolyn Polakowski, Executive Director of the Fragile Kids Foundation has been active in the Georgia philanthropic community for more than 20 years, advocating for children’s health and welfare both professionally and as an active community volunteer. A native of Washington, D.C., she has worked with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Scottish Rite Foundation) and launched the children’s foundation at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia. The “Caring Program” was the precursor to Peachcare and Carolyn participated with other BCBSGA foundation directors nationwide to consult with the development of the national CHIP programs as well as the Georgia plan through the Georgia Health Policy Center. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Carolyn studied at Ludwigs Maximillian University in Munich and instructed German language at U.S.C. as a graduate student.
Carolyn’s career focus in children’s advocacy work has been in grant writing, media relations, special events and strategic planning. During her tenure at the Fragile Kids Foundation, the organization has grown from Atlanta to service for all Georgia counties; the number of children benefiting from medical equipment grants has nearly doubled and a new “Partners Program” to aid smaller sister agencies has been launched. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Georgia Center for Non Profits. She currently serves as a volunteer at the Atlanta Two Day Breast Cancer Walk, The Center for Children and Young Adults, Gabriel’s Angels and is on the executive committee of her children’s school P.T.A. Claudette Enners, Program Coordinator
Claudette Enners has been Fragile Kids Program Coordinator since 2005. Her passion and commitment to special needs issues is the result of being a parent of a child with cerebral palsy. Although her career as a computer network analyst did not begin in the non-profit industry, she brings an intuitive perspective to our organization.
As the liason between Fragile Kids’ families, Medical Review and Advisory boards, as well as the many DME vendors state wide, Claudette manages all aspects of our Healthcare Grant and Loaned Equipment programs. Her personal experience in the special needs community brings compassion and insight into the challenges faced by families navigating these waters. Claudette can be contacted by phone at 770-951-6112 and email at email@example.com
Jill Gossett, Director of Development
Jill Gossett started her non-profit career with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia as Development and Program Director for The Caring Foundation, which provided free health insurance for children who were unable to qualify for Medicaid. During her eight years employment with the Foundation, she raised funds through employee campaigns, special events, and direct mail. She also helped develop a Women’s Health Program at BCBSGA which included community outreach, education, and support of non-profit events related to women’s health including the Susan G. Komen Pink Tie Ball.
Jill was hired by Fragile Kids Foundation to be the Director of Development in 2005, and her job is to help plan all the wonderful events that are held throughout the year. Jill can be contacted by phone at 770-951-6115 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
